Preventative Maintenance

Preventative Maintenance

Air compressors rarely fail without warning. They fail when nobody’s paying attention to the warnings. An elevated discharge temperature. A clogged filter. Excessive moisture in the lines. The longer these warnings are ignored, the closer your system gets to costly repairs and catastrophic failure.

For nearly three decades, Compressor Services has helped industrial facilities in Northern Illinois maintain peak performance and avoid unexpected breakdowns with preventative maintenance programs built around your unique needs. We catch problems before they become a crisis, and bring the costs of energy and repairs down.

Improve Efficiency

Keep your equipment running like new so it delivers the same air using less energy

Lower Energy Costs

Stop forcing your compressor to work harder and use more electricity than it has to

Extend Equipment Life

Proper care catches wear early so minor issues never become a crisis that kills your compressor

Optimize Efficiency & Production

Maybe you’re a commercial print shop like our customer Team Concept that relies on compressed air to maintain tight production schedules. Or a global medical supply company like our customer Medline that depends on compressed air for critical supply chain solutions. Whoever you are, if you need to keep your compressed air system running reliably at peak efficiency, call Compressor Services today.

Our preventative maintenance programs provide an elevated level of care. They include routine inspections, fluid and filter changes, air leak detection, moisture and drain management, cooling system maintenance, belt and bearing checks, electrical and controls checks, and performance testing. We keep a detailed history of service and repair in our CRM so our technicians know your equipment inside and out.

The payoff is lower energy costs, steadier pressure, longer equipment life, and uninterrupted performance you can count on.

Service Area

We offer preventative maintenance programs for industrial facilities in Northern Illinois and the greater Chicagoland area. Whether you’re in Will and Grundy counties to the south, Cook or DuPage County to the east, or Kane, Dekalb and Lee or Ogle counties to the west, you can count on us for quick service and comprehensive compressed air system care.

FAQ

How does preventative maintenance lower my energy costs?

When your compressor needs to work harder to deliver the same air, it’s using more energy. More energy means higher costs. This can be the result of clogged filters, worn parts, air leaks- any number of factors that impact performance. In fact, air leaks can waste 20 to 30 percent of the compressors output.

What are the warning signs my system may need preventive maintenance?

There are many signs that would indicate you need preventative maintenance. Some include, but are not limited to: unusual noises or vibration, moisture downstream of the compressor, more frequent cycling to meet demand, audible air leaks, pressure drops, higher operating temperatures or overheating, or rising energy costs.

How much does preventative maintenance cost?

The cost of preventative maintenance depends on the type, size, and number of compressors you are running. There is no one-size-fits-all pricing- each program is built specifically for your system. A general rule of thumb is preventative maintenance for an industrial compressed air system costs between 5-10% of the equipments initial purchase price annually. This can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars per visit to thousands of dollars for full system optimization of a large industrial facility.

The bottom line: preventative maintenance almost always costs less than emergency repair costs.

What are the benefits of a preventative maintenance program?

A preventative maintenance program keeps your compressed air system running at peak performance and significantly reduces the chances of an unplanned breakdown. By catching small problems and replacing belts, filters, and fluids before they cause bigger programs, it leads to longer equipment life, lower energy costs, and greater reliability. No more interruptions to production or emergency repair costs. A scheduled program provides predictable maintenance costs and is tailored to your operation so you get personalized care and your equipment gets the proper attention.

How often should my air compressor be serviced?

We recommend a maintenance schedule based on your facility’s needs, age of equipment, and environmental factors. While many compressors can run smoothly with one or two service calls per year, more demanding operations require quarterly or monthly service calls. Filters, oil, and other parts can wear down quickly when equipment runs around the clock- that’s why every situation is unique, and we tailor each service plan to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity.
